The works involved the remediation of 3 seawalls at various locations on the Hawkesbury river. The foreshore restoration could not be performed from land. To overcome this hurdle all works were performed from barges with further logistic issues including the transport of sandstone to a remote part of the river surrounded by National parks which had no vehicular access. Sandstone was delivered using barges to ferry trucks from Brooklyn to Long Island and then loaded onto barges which were taken to Wondabyne. The Wondabyne seawall was reconstructed using a drilling rig to install stainless steel rock bolts and then shotcreted using barges carrying a concrete truck, shotcrete pump, compressor and personnel.
This project overcame huge logistic issues but most importantly was performed in a way to ensure no impact on the environment and secured the protection of the endangered sea grass &
